L’approche narrative constitue un champ disciplinaire émergent considérant le récit comme un objet thérapeutique, méthodologique et d’étude à part entière. L’objectif de notre contribution est double : (a) présenter le contexte d’émergence de l’approche narrative et de la notion de récit dans le champ de la psychologie et (b) interroger la pertinence théorico-méthodologique de cette approche afin d’explorer l’expression de savoirs sociaux dans l’expérience vécue du cancer. Après avoir présenté certaines méthodes de recueil et d’analyse du récit, nous proposerons une application de cette démarche par l’analyse d’entretiens narratifs de personnes atteintes de cancer. Nous nous appuierons sur les résultats obtenus afin de développer une réflexion sur les perspectives appliquées de l’approche narrative, notamment en ce qui concerne la prise en charge psychologique des patients atteints de cancer.

The narrative approach is an emerging disciplinary field, which considers the narrative to be a therapeutic, a methodological and an object of study in its own right. The objective of our contribution is twofold: (a) to present the context of emergence of the narrative approach and the notion of narrative in the field of psychology, and (b) to question the theoretical-methodological relevance of this approach in order to explore the expression of social knowledge with regard to the lived experience of cancer. After presenting some methods of collection and analysis of the narrative, we will suggest an application of this approach by analyzing narrative interviews of people with cancer. We will build on the results obtained to develop a reflection on the applied perspectives of the narrative approach, particularly with regard to the psychological therapy of cancer patients.
